Yom HaShoah means Holocaust Memorial Day. Yom HaShoah is commemorated according to the Hebrew calendar of the 27th of Nisan. Thus, the day is recognized between April and May.

- Six million Jews were systematically killed by a modern European nation as it embraced extreme intolerance
- Israel (The Knesset), in 1953, designated the 27th of Nisan to be commemorated as Yom HaShoah
- Multiple vulnerable and minority communities were targeted alongside the Jewish community including persons with disabilities, LGBTQ+, and ethnic and religious minorities
